 Filtration of water

Subject:
Science, Environmental studies

Level:
**

Description:

Interactive animation of a water filtration process. The student first chooses the size of one or more contaminants (small, medium, large). Next they decide the kind and order of filters they will use (sand, coarse sand, pebbles). The animation simulates the process for each choice, recording the length of time needed for full filtering. The best filter combination has to be chosen in order to have the water purified in the least time.

Objective(s):

Knowledge:
  - Simple method for water filtering
Understanding:
  - Optimisation of methods
Skills:
  - Suggestion and verification of a hypothesis
